Teaching & Research
Professor Smolicz's chief teaching and research interests relate to languages education within the South Australian Curriculum Standards & Accountability (SACSA) Framework; linguistic and cultural pluralism and its implementation in the Australian education system. His current research studies include:
* language as a core value of culture;
* globalisation and national cultures; comparative study of privatisation in higher education;
* comparative study of language policies.
* Key appointments in the last ten years include: Chair, Multicultural Education Committee (advisory committee to SA Minister of Education and Children's Services);
* Honorary Professor, Santo Tomas University, Manila;
* Visiting Professor, Institute of Sociology, University of Warsaw and Institute of Political Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences;
